Arogya Sanjeevani is a new health policy formulated by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). This policy was launched on April 1, 2020, by general insurers in India. The health coverage is available from INR 1 lakh to INR 5 lakh.

The Arogya Sanjeevani policy covers hospitalization expenses along with treatment costs in case you are diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. The two types of plans include individual and family floater coverage.

  1. Hospitalization expenses

These include pre- and post-hospitalization costs as per the policy document. The expenses covered include hospital stay, diagnostic tests, medications, doctors’ charges, and surgical costs. In addition to such expenses due to an accident or ailment, the policy covers treatment-related costs for coronavirus.

  • AYUSH treatment

This policy takes care of the expenses incurred for alternative treatments like Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH). However, you need to avail of the treatment at a certified facility.

  • No-Claim Bonus (NCB)
